RSO Work Schedule
EWSC Range Safety Officer Program
by Brian Turner, EWSC Director
For the past few years, many of you may have seen our range staffed with Range Safety Officers (RSOs). All EWSC Range Safety Officers are nationally certified through the National Rifle Association. The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification.
Each RSO completes a minimum of 8-hours of training, under the direction of a Chief RSO. Many EWSC RSOs are also certified in CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), a portable device that is a vital concept in the treatment of a sudden cardiac arrest.
Skip Daly, who has been running the program for the past four years, manages the EWSC RSO Program. Currently, EWSC has 55 RSOs along with two active Chief RSOs, Brian Turner and Tom Schupp. All EWSC RSOs are club members who volunteer their personal time to act as range officers. On average, they volunteer over 3,600 hours a year to the club.
“The RSO program has been very well - received here at East Windsor, and we’re one of the largest contingents in the state. These folks volunteer a great deal of their own time and expertise to make our range safer for both members and their guests.” -Skip Daly, Manager, RSO Program
